One of the best ways to prepare when you’re expecting a new baby is to educate yourself on your growing baby bump and what to expect when giving birth and bringing home your newborn. CentraState offers self-paced virtual programs so you can participate and learn from the comfort of your own home at your convenience!

Become a member of our virtual maternal-health program that includes classes on childbirth preparation, infant care, breastfeeding, pregnancy-related conditions like preeclampsia, new mom/baby support groups, zoom meetings and much more! We are here for you as a resource and can't wait to assist you along this exciting journey!

What's Included?

  • Personal Coach: A maternal-health coach team of experienced registered nurses and a lactation consultant will be by your side to support you and your partner and answer any questions you may have
  • Childbirth Preparation: Understand the process of labor, birthing techniques, comfort measures, and ways partners can support laboring mothers.
  • Infant Care: This class is for expectant parents, grandparents and caregivers to learn or refresh how to take care of a newborn. Learn up-to-date information about bathing, diapering, feeding, cord and circumcision care, recognizing illnesses, safety and more!
  • Breastfeeding: Breastfeeding is a natural gift, but it doesn't always come easy. Here you will learn breastfeeding techniques to get nursing off to a good start and handle the most common, early challenges.
  • Mom and Baby Discussion Group: Connect with other moms and discuss any concerns or questions you may be having as a new parent.

Weigh of Life is a flexible and realistic approach to help you achieve and maintain weight loss over the long-term. You’ll learn how to include foods you enjoy without feeling guilty. It's about progress, not perfection.

What you'll get:

  • Twenty weekly lessons to help you stay focused on your goal one day at a time.
  • Video instruction that you can access whenever you're ready.
  • Reference material, worksheets and additional evidence-based resources to help you succeed.
  • Tools to cope with stress and emotional triggers.
  • An online community to support and inspire you; with periodic meetings online to share your experience and cheer on one another.

How it works:

  • Course length: 20 lessons
  • Duration: At your pace; on-demand
  • Format: 100% online, an optional in-person metabolic analysis is available for an additional fee

New Mom Support Group: Virtual

Our New Mom Support Group meets every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

The baby has arrived, but you still have questions! Join our virtual group and discuss your new mom concerns, share your experiences with other moms, and ask any questions you may have about breastfeeding, infant feeding, sleep deprivation, baby blues, returning to work… you name it! Our board-certified lactation consultant facilitates this open discussion group, and babies are welcome.

Heart to Heart: Cardiac Support Group

Heart to Heart: Cardiac Support Group

Free

Heart to Heart aims to provide support and resources to help you cope and adjust in a compassionate space among people experiencing similar conditions. Open to all adults who are experiencing any cardiac conditions, including their loved one or caregivers. This support group is facilitated by a licensed social worker.

Time: 2nd Thursday of each month, noon - 1 pm

Location: Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus- Cardiac Rehab Suite- Zen Room

HEAL: Helping Everyone Adjust to Loss

The loss of a loved one can be an overwhelming experience.  CentraState's grief support group, HEAL, aims to provide resources and support to help you cope and adjust to grief in a compassionate, non-judgmental space amongst people experiencing similar loss. 

The grief support group is open to all adults who have lost a loved one; encouraging grievers to ask for and receive support, understanding, and empathy.

The group is held in person the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 3pm-4pm.

The group is facilitated by experienced social workers Marlene Parry, MSW, LSW and Alexis Capobianco, MSW, LSW.
